“Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family.”
Societies and states have a host of challenges they must meet and overcome, including issues of development, inequality, sustainability, and cybersecurity, to name but a few. Political economy is an essential discipline for understanding such challenges.
The Department of Political Economy was founded to help students deepen their understanding of the political, economic and social changes that lie ahead. With a strong emphasis on research methods and practical skills, our program encourages students to cultivate a mind-set of flexibility and adaptability through creative and critical analysis. Those students completing the program will receive the “Master of Political Economy” degree.
Traditionally, political economy is considered an interdisciplinary endeavor between the academic specialties of political science and economics. However, our program goes beyond such conventional thinking and integrates facets of business, technology, sociology and regional integration.
For students wishing to study in Asia about global and Asian contexts, our program offers a unique opportunity to study in English, under Western scholars, in one of South Korea’s most beautiful cities, the port city of Busan.
Come learn the analytical skills societies need! Be part of the solution societies need! Come join us at the Department of Political Economy.
